Docteur en Histoire, Marie-Carmen Smyrnelis anime un séminaire à l’École des hautes études en sciences sociales et travaille à la Maison des Sciences de l’Homme. Elle est l’auteur de Smyrne, La ville oubliée ? 1830-1930, mémoires d’un grand port ottoman.

21 Mart 2009 Cumartesi günü İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi Santralistanbul kampüsünde gösterime sunuluyor.
Proje kapsamında, göçmen ve mülteci gençlerin, kendi hazırladıkları dijital filmlerin toplu gösterimi, 21 Mart 2009 Cumartesi günü, 1100-1400 saatleri arasında düzenlenecek törende, İstanbul Bilgi Universitesi’nin katkılarıyla İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi, Santralistanbul Kampüsü, E4-305 numaralı konferans salonununda gerçekleşecektir.
Pek çoğu Irak, Somali, Sudan ve Çeçenistan’dan göç eden ya da mülteci olarak Türkiye’ye gelen 17-25 yaş arasındaki gençlerin hazırladıkları kendi dijital hikayeleri göçmen ve mültecilerin günlük hayatlarını tüm doğallığı ve gerçekliği ile kendi bakış açıları ve kendi anlatımlarıyla izleyicilerle paylaşacak ve bu konudaki farkındalığı arttırmayı amaçlayacak.

A Transatlantic Dialogue on Migration
An international conference co-organized by Syracuse University in Florence and New York University with European University Institute and the Facolta’ di Legge and Scienze Politiche of the Universita’ di Firenze.
The two-day conference will take place on March 23-24, 2009, at NYU’s Villa La Pietra and the Salone de’ Dugento at Palazzo Vecchio respectively.
In recent decades both sides of the Atlantic have seen an increase in immigration and growing public controversy surrounding government initiatives to address it. This exceptional partnership between European and American academic institutions in Florence brings prominent European and American scholars, policy makers and practitioners together to discuss critical issues surrounding immigration, its impact on public policy, the complex inter-relationship between national policy and local practice, and reflections on immigrants’ rights, cultural diversity and national identity, which have stirred such passions on both sides of the Atlantic.

NATO AND HUMAN RIGHTS
60 / 60 – The Role of NATO Post 9-11 Event
The purpose of the April 1st 2009, 60/60 Conference in Strasbourg, France is to discuss the nature and significance of NATO’s commitment to international human rights and the rule of law. In particular, speakers will address NATO’s changing role post-9/11 in the global context of the fight against terrorism, and examine NATO’s role in the rendition of terrorist suspects to secret prisons and torture sites. With experienced and prestigious speakers ranging from academics, lawyers, investigators, to representatives of NATO and the European Court of Human Rights, the conference will be a unique platform to debate critical questions on the eve of NATO’s 60th Anniversary Summit – to take place in Strasbourg two days later – and four months after the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration for Human Rights (UDHR).
This conference is free and open to the public, but because seating is limited, you can register here to secure yourself a seat.
